Greenwich Dance Agency (gDA) is at the forefront of dance development in the UK. Based in Greenwich town centre, gDA provides a meeting place for professional dance artists and the local community. It produces and promotes a range of activities including classes, workshops and unique events, enabling local people to participate in and experience dance. - Asia One : Breakin'
- Thinking Outside the Box
- Reinvent classic Bboy/Bgirl Dance, by bringing new insight into movement focusing on style, technique, and your own personal flava. This workshop will benefit any dancer whether novice or advanced through opening up your current style with different toprock and footwork patterns.
- Asia One moved to the San Diego/ Los Angeles area in 1994 and worked with the Universal Zulu Nation and Rock Steady Crew. Asia has been breaking for 12 years and been affiliated with The Rock Steady Crew, Eternal 2 Creations, Tony Tee Dance Projects, Malcolm McLaren's Buffalo Girls, and currently holds it down with her production and dance company called 'No Easy Props Productions', and Essential Rockers Crew. 'No Easy Props' is about earning your respect the hard way, through work and dedication. Asia has performed throughout the US, Europe, and Japan. She has taken part in professional shows, seminars and workshops, and been featured in commercial (Pepsi) and print ads (Virgin Records). Asia can be seen in numerous breaking videos and several Rap videos including Slum Villages 'Tell A Friend'- Capital Records; Run DMC/Jason Nevin's remix entitled 'It's Like That'
- Cicely & Olisa : Hip Hop Streetdance Choreography
- Cicely and Olisa will be teaching Raw Hip Hop Streetdance choreography that promises to be different that anything else you've learned in the past. Their classes are suitable for dancers at an advanced level.
- Cicely Bradley and Olisa Thompson (Nu-Stylz) are among some of the hottest choreographers in the business. Both from Queens, New York, they are best known for their creativity; their unique dance styles are a combination of originality and a mixture of various dance combinations. They were nominated for their choreography at the 7th annual American Choreography Awards for their contribution to Missy Elliot's 'Get Ya Freak On', which also appeared on the MTV Video Music awards; and won choreography of the year for Missy's 'Pass the Dutch' music video. They have previously worked with Whitney Houston, Fugees, Eve and Mary J. Blige. Today you can find them doing choreography for artists all over the world including hit artists such as G-Unit, Tweet, and Mario. They are currently preparing to be featured choreographers and judges for the hit show 'So you think you can dance'.
- Pandora : Popping
- Although Pandora considers herself an aspiring student of dance she has still managed to develop her own unique flavor and approach to POPPING, while also adding a feminine touch. Therefore, she is very excited to share with everyone her personal feel for POPPING and will also teach the styles known as TUTTING, WAVING, and STROBING within a fun and energetic routine.
- Street dancer Pandora is a nationally acclaimed performer and artist. Based out of Santa Ana, Orange County, Pandora's roots stem from not only dance, but from art in general. She began her dancing journey in the mid 1990's and eventually Tutting became her gateway style into a whole palette of styles categorized under the umbrella term 'Popping' or the term coined by the Electric Boogaloos 'Funk Styles'.
- Pandora has since joined up with the world-renowned 'Animated Beat Mechanics' crew, travelled, competed and won against some of the best dancers on the globe, as well as exhibited her skills in shows and street dance events across the world.
- Ana 'Rokafella' Garcia : Breakin'
- The Breakdown'
- To teach Hip Hop dance in particular 'Breakin' as an artistic expression that helps the students to surpass the ups and downs of their lives.
- Objective: Through Hip Hop culture and dance, Rokafella aims to expand student's awareness about the cultural connections between various dance forms, like Capoeira, Lindy Hop, Tap, and African, strengthening their self-expression and personal artistry.
- Methodology: Through dialogue, students will begin learning about the history of the original dance styles in their communities and then discuss mainstream factors that helped or harmed the evolution of the community. They will understand the technique of the dance as well as the spontaneous character of the community from which it came.
- Hip Hop dancer/choreographer Ana 'Rokafella' Garcia was born in Spanish Harlem where she grew up with a strong Latin background. After experiencing international appreciation for Hip Hop, she decided to offer classes back home to prevent it's fading away.
- Since the resurgence of breaking, locking and popping in the Hip Hop mainstream, she has appeared films and videos that feature her unique ability as a B girl -for example Fabulous' 'Holla back Youngin'. She and her husband founded Full Circle Productions- a Hip Hop collective of artists who understand the cultural value of these urban art forms. Rokafella represents the positive image of a woman confident in both her Puerto Rican and Hip Hop cultures. She's done work for artists like Will Smith, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Tito Puente to name a few and believes this culture was born to help urban youth get through the ups and downs of life with something to hold on to.
- Kadia Faraux - House
- Besides the choreographic side, Kadia concerns herself with increasing knowledge of the Hip Hop culture and organizing training courses to teach the various techniques [break, lock, pop, nu styles] as well as the different influences [contemporary, jazz, afro]. This approach is synonymous with sharing and defending permanent evaluative gestures. Thus, Kadia intends not only to encourage exchanges between amateur and professional dancers coming from various artistic horizons, but also to set up discovery and introduction projects. Kadia will teach workshops in both House/Nu Style and Popping.
- Kadia Faraux is one of the only female Hip Hop Choreographers in France.
- Her aim is to transmit Hip Hop dance with respect, solidarity, rigour, conscience and defence of femininity. Together with her training, Kadia plays an active part in operations held in the prison environment and participates in the transmission of Hip Hop dance in many social cultural facilities in Lyon and its suburbs. She also organizes training courses through which teachers can acquire a Hip Hop qualification.
- Ambra Succi : Underground Hip Hop
- Ambra is a versatile dancer and choreographer, known for incorporating elements of different dance styles such as Hip hop, Jazz, African dance, Tap, Contemporary, Capoeira and Salsa. Her routines pop from new school to old school, adding an essence of contemporary and spicing it with her own style.
- Beginning her dance career in Helsinki, Finland, in 1987, Ambra travelled around Europe competing and performing with dance company 'Damaru'. From here she studied at The Broadway Dance Centre, New York, and the Swedish Ballet Academy in Stockholm. At the Ballet Academy, Ambra taught jazz and Hip Hop classes and formed The Bounce Streetdance Company which went on to tour their dance productions throughout Europe, perform at numerous events and shows and last year release a number one selling DVD 'Bounce Live'.
